Who Are the Early Earth Protectors (EEP)

The Early Earth Protectors are a youth led environmental activist charitable association (basically a slightly less official charity) based in Chippenham. We do campaigning and are activists around climate change, river pollution, diversity and inclusivity, LGBTQIA+ rights, and we are trying to get young peoples voices heard and recognised.

And what do we do?

• We are currently working on creating a community garden for young people to create a greater connection with nature (and with each other) on a piece of land that the River Avon runs through. The land is provided by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity and is next to Baydons meadow.
• We give out free wildflower seeds and blue hearts signs to celebrate wild and weedy gardens. Having wild and weedy gardens is way better for biodiversity.
• We go to music festivals such as Shambala to hold speakers corners for young people, so young people can amplify their voices in a public and welcoming space. This year we are having a jamming session using plantwave technology with the wild plants that they have at Shambala!
• We are guardians of the River Avon in partnership with We Are Avon. We held a celebration of the River Avon where Early Earth Protectors married the river as a creative form of activism and hope about the future of our rivers. During the ceremony we vowed to protect the River Avon and all waterways that feed into it.
• We collaborated with Riverbank studios and M3G to compose a song for our River Avon ceremony. We used plantwave technology to use the music from the beautiful plants on our land. This was a very weird and interesting experience (the plantwaves taking the energy's from the plant and somehow turning that into music!) The song was performed by a young person at the River Wedding, And is going on listening platforms soon!
• Last Year we had a free permaculture course with Milly Carmichel We learnt about permaculture principles, and how to make string from brambles, which is useful as we have too many brambles!!!
• We held Pride events at our land where we invited local musicians to play. We also held stalls, and held a quiz we wrote ourselves!
• We held flags at the Pride parade in Chippenham, and held Camerados public living rooms in town, where some of us learned to juggle!
• We are public speakers and have spoken at Chippenham and Wiltshire Council. 
• We have started a young children's group called Little Shrooms that we hold on our land where we offer a free session with 4-8 year olds. There is a variety of activities which normally are either creative or educational.
• Litterpick's across the riverbank, and citizen science testing for pollutants in the river.
• We have recently been chosen this year as one of Climate courage's partners. This is a collaboration between Climate live  and the Youth Climate Collaborative (YCC) Twenty youth led charity's (including us!) from around the UK will be given training to put on gig's with intervals to talk about mental health within the climate crisis, and we are currently going through training with that now! 

We have kindly received funding from Chippenham Borough Lands, Chippenham Town Council, Tescos Stronger Starts and We are Avon. Big thanks to all of these!
